Like a Ship in the Harbor

I found this (again) written in purple ink on a long scrap of paper from a very long time ago. It has stuck to me as I have traipsed through life ignoring how important it was to me in what I wanted Halsted to hear as she fell asleep dreaming her baby dreams. It is two lullabies that when sung together are harmonious and beautiful. I used to sing them to Halsted – thinking one and singing the other then reversing them. If you have a friend who can sing them with you – at the same time – it is very sweet.

(Song by Chris Williamson)
Like a ship in the harbor
Like a mother and child
Like a light in the darkness
I will hold you a while.

We will rock on the water
I’ll cradle you deep
I will hold you while angels
Sing you to sleep.

Other song (yeah, it’s the Disney theme song):
When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires will come to you.
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star like dreamers do.
